Shoalhaven Motor Lifestyle Expo
I attended the Shoalhaven Motor-Lifestyle Expo earlier today, an elaborate combination of Motorbikes, Cars and Trucks. In the interests of full disclosure I feel compelled to tell you: I know absolutely nothing about cars, and even less about motorbikes, but I thoroughly enjoyed the day all the same.
The Freestyle Motocross is always a spectacle to behold. I can only imagine what it must be like to be that high up in the air, let alone the kind of talent it requires to do mid-air aerobics!
We were later entertained by the talents of a couple of younger guys demonstrating maneuvers over ramps, concrete slabs, and – yes – even a car!

The younger demographic were entertained by the likes of Super Hubert (watch his antics on YouTube). My nephew seemed particularly impressed by the man he dubbed, “The superhero.”
Local girl group, “Pride,” performed a number of songs and were in great voice. At one point during a rendition of the Eurythmics classic “Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This)” I could hear a few loud clunks. The noises were obviously not part of the backing track accompanying the group. Suddenly the girl performing the lead grabbed the XLR microphone cable as it fell out of the microphone and towards the floor. I was particularly impressed by how well she handled the situation. She just giggled momentarily, reattached the microphone to its lead, and continued as if nothing had transpired.
Miss World Australia 2008, Katie Richardson, was, along with Power FM’s Ricardo, present to award a Honda CRF50F08 minibike to one deserving young man.

It was wonderful to see such a collection of enthusiasts together in one place celebrating their passion. The cars themselves ranged from classic to modern, and included a few offbeat numbers such as the one below. A little macabre, sure, and I was amused to see some of the props I had used in the JOJ Halloween Extravaganza last year beside the vehicle.

The day itself was a fundraiser for Variety The Children’s Charity to support their Variety Bash Event for 2008.

LOOKS LIKE IT WAS ALOT OF FUN! i wanna go to a motocross…
That looks like it was a fantastic day. Great photos. Makes me want to take my 20D to Korea. If only there was room…
I like the Goth Bride… makes me feel that way about the wedding I have to go to today.
For someone who isn’t into cars, you grabbed some great shots.
Those are great photos and I love the link to the Hubert video on you tube. Thanks for a great share.
