Oh, what a beautiful morning!

Yesterday I sort of stayed at home and stayed at the screen all day, hoping if I cut myself some blood would form on the page in some vaguely interesting way for NaNoWriMo. It didn’t really happen. I just developed cabin fever, eventually I went out into my backyard but this didn’t help either. I felt really rather rotten until I fell asleep.

Today I decided to go to the library and return that book that was a few days overdue. So I did that and I was restless because, I guess, I didn’t have breakfast. So I got a coffee. And I came back and did some reading and looked at books. And I went to the park and it was beautiful and peaceful. It is always peaceful which is kind of confusing because it is adjacent to a busy highway. But somehow it is a different place when you visit it. And I’d been putting off doing this interiview for weeks because I just had no idea of how to make it work. But as I sat at the park all these ideas just flooded out of my head and I scribbled them into my notebook. I always thought watching and rewatching videos would help formulate ideas, but what I really needed was some space to think.

Then I had lunch at a local restaurant. The usual waitress wasn’t there (she apparently had the weekend off) and the owner was operating in her place. He was really wonderful. (Infact at least ten times better than the waitress. Infact if I’m being honest I always went there for the quality of the food and the decor and ambience; never the service. So this was a refreshing change!) So that was wonderful and then I went back to the park, and eventually returned to the library to borrow a book before it closed.

I stopped in at a local office supplies store just to look around. I found this Fellowes Desktoper which is basically a plastic container that holds suspension files. I had been looking for something to hold the two large folders that usually reside on my desk. They are great, the folders, but when I’m not using them they take up at least a third of my desk. I thought if I could house them upright in something it would help my desk space considerably. I kept looking at magazine holders for this purpose but none of those were either wide or deep enough. After spending 15 minutes deciding which colour to get (no, really), I picked up the maroon one and went to the checkout.

“That’s… um… 56 cents,” the cashier said.

“Really? Because on the shelf it said it was twenty dollars.”

She scans the barcode again. “Well it keeps coming up as 56 cents. There’s not much I can do about it. I guess you got yourself a bargain.”

SCORE!

I grabbed some supplies for tonight’s dinner (I’m having wonton soup – the lazy way, with premade wontons from the Asian supermarket). And then I drove home. The folders fit into the Desktopper perfectly. It was exactly the perfect thing for the task. Today has been a wonderful day! Hope your Saturday is shaping up to be a beauty too.
