Oh Mariah Take Us Higher!
I always had this strange sense that Mariah Carey’s infatuation with rap came as some kind of backlash to her parting ways with Tommy Mottola and Columbia Records. So you can only imagine my surprise when I came across this little gem. It’s Mariah with Ol’ Dirty Bastard doing a “remixed” version of her hit Fantasy.
It’s difficult to know what is more contrived; the way Mariah attempts to ask in a sultry voice, “Whatcha gonna do when you get out of jail?” (it makes my skin crawl) or ODB’s response, “I’m gonna do a remix/I’m gonna have some fun.”
