Change To Comment/User Policy

The ability to register to this particular blog (for the purposes of comments, primarily) has been turned off. This is because:

  • It has become apparent that a lot of non-genuine users (spammers and the like) have registered with this blog in the past few months.
  • Registered user comments deprive the commenter of an opportunity to promote their own website/blog, instead linking to a Wordpress profile.
  • My initial concern that people may impersonate other users seems largely unfounded.

I have deleted 44 user profiles from this blog that I believe to be from non-genuine users. I have also turned off the ability to register for this blog. You can still continue to leave comments (should you wish to do so) by simply entering your details into the comments section of any entry on this blog.

There are a handful of users who I know to be genuine who will still be able to log in and comment in the old fashioned style should they wish. Simply:

Please keep comments on topic. Comment moderation is at the discretion of the blog author. Comments posted exclusively for the purposes of inbound link building may be deleted if they are not relevant to the subject matter presented in the blog entry they relate to.

  1. Sounds like a smart thing to do. I have always hated when you must register for a specific site in which to post a comment.
