Astrologically Speaking…

by admin on May 12, 2008

I did something today that I haven’t done in a while. Though don’t look too worried. I decided to check out the daily horoscope at Jonathan Cainer’s website. There was a time in my life when I would’ve checked seven different horoscopes before breakfast (no exaggeration!). I bought that most remarkable tome, the celebrated Parker’s Astrology. In part because I was interested in the subject matter, but also (more cynically) I wondered if producing horoscopes for people would be a good way of making money online.

I think at the time I was reaching for something. I looked forward to the day when I would wake up and see something to the effect of: “All your problems will evaporate today. Everyone will love you. Everything you do will turn to gold… though not literally, unless that is what you wanted.”

I guess I felt really disempowered. I felt like life was something that was ‘happening’ to me, of which I yielded little or no control. Not being a religious person, I didn’t believe in “God” so it was tempting to attribute what was happening in my life to external forces. Perhaps, astrological forces.

Don’t get me wrong. I truly believe that planetary forces do exert themselves on this planet that are felt in any number of ways. Astrology is a fascinating tradition – indeed a collection of traditions – something certainly worthy of dedicated study by the right individuals.

One thing I really appreciate about Jonathan Cainer, in particular, is that he doesn’t give you things to expect, rather things to think about. His daily horoscopes are really daily meditations, removed from the “Today you’ll meet a tall dark handsome stranger” ilk of some publications. While it is (probably) safe to assume they bear some relevance to astrological climate for any given sun sign, this kind of wisdom would be beneficial at any time.

I think its important to really stop and think about what you’re doing and why you’re doing it. Otherwise you’re just going through the motions.

I suspect that you already have my face deeply ingrained on your mind. Or at least I like to think you do. I like to headshot at the top of the page, not pretentious at all. I am a frim believer in astrology as it applies the planatary influences on the earth. There are certain hours of the day, days of the week, and phases of the moon where certain activities are more positive than others. For example, I got married in a full moon phase in the sign of libra-which is perfect for marital harmony.
Also dont be so quick to judge those going thru the motions, sometimes it is a coping mechanism to get the day.
